Rio Grande Steam Passenger Trains

$30.00

After the San Juan was discontinued only sporatic excursions by groups such as the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club took place each year. We see such trips during 1956 with a 2-day Alamosa-Durango Roundtrip and a 1958 trip from Alamosa to Durango, with a side trip to Farmington as the Silverton line was flooded. The Farmington Trip had K-37 493 for power and we get some good scenes riding and at stops. There is good coverage of a 1960 trip from Alamosa to Durango and Silverton with 476, and 483 to Alamosa on the last day. There are also scenes of various engines on 1963 and 1964 excursions. Also 483 hauls an excursion in 1966, the final year of excursions between Alamosa and Durango, just two years before the Rio Grande ended Narrow Gauge freight operations entirely. There is also more coverage of regular trains and excursions on the Silverton Branch. All three classes of 2-8-2's are seen including the K-28's, K-36's, and K-37's. Also there is some doubleheading action from Chama to Cumbres. There is music and narration, plus maps and scene titles as you enjoy passenger trains over the 4th Division.
