8:00 PM Night Photo Shoot of Steam Engine & Museum Trains *CANCELLED* Photographer       SOLD OUT

Are you a true railfan who enjoys getting unusual shots? The Lake Superior Railroad Museum is proud to present a unique photographic opportunity, with historic railroad equipment positioned for perfect photos. Railroad photographer Steve Glischinski has partnered with the museum to host this evenings events. There is not a train ride included as planned, but there will be opportunities for special tours and cab visits for this group only.

This rare photo shoot is an opportunity to get some exclusive evening and night photos of railroad equipment both in the museum and outside, with professional lighting to create amazing scenes. Experienced railroad photographers will be on hand to assist in framing, exposure, positioning, etc. Be sure to bring along a tripod for your camera!

A few of the subjects to photo:
  • Steam Engine #28, 2-8-0 Consolidation: hot and smoking
  • Steam Engine #2719 - 4-6-2 Pacific
  • Steam Engine #14 - 2-8-2 Mikado
Timeline of this evening photo session:
  • 8:00pm: Reception in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum (admission included): shoot photos of the museum interior and equipment, with no other patrons in the museum, giving you a special opportunity to shoot photos without the harsh light through the skylights or the general public’s photo-bombs. Beverages and light snacks will be available at this time. A wide angle lens would be helpful for these interior scenes.
  • 8:30pm: The photo group assembles and walks to the rail yard of the railroad museum (next to Draper Maintenance Shop, which will be open and available for touring). As the sun sets, you can catch a photo of the arrival of the evening diesel-powered train excursion.
  • 9:00pm – Steam Locomotive #28 is steamed up in the yard. Diesel engines will be used to move other steam engines and coaches in and out of the yard to be positioned for photos.
  • 9:07pm: Official sunset time – professional lighting is included as part of this event. Photo sessions continue until about 11 p.m.
Membership to the Railroad Museum is not required for this event, but if you're not a member already, now is a great time to add it to your purchase below.

Note: There will be lots of walking/standing involved on uneven surfaces in our train yard. Beverages and light snacks will be included. Children under the age of 5 are not recommended, and all guests under the age of 13 will need to be supervised at all times.
