#28 Steam Engine Donor Appreciation Train
Departing from Duluth Depot

Steam power returns to the Twin Ports when #28 is fired up and pulling trains again. Thanks to your help! It is time for the maiden voyage of the restored locomotive and only the people who contributed directly to it are invited to this special event, one weekend only.

Schedule for the day:

  • 8:30am: Museum is open for any donor’s to tour included with your train ticket
  • 9:00am: The locomotive arrives in the boarding area for photos and time to interact with the crew
  • 9:45am: Boarding begins for the inaugural run
  • 10:00am: Depart Duluth for Palmers, MN
  • 11:00am: Arrive Palmers, meet the Northbound Two Harbors train at the siding. Passengers can deboard to watch and take photos. The train will do a “runby” – where the train is backed up and raced by all the passengers in the photo line. The train will return, perform a runaround to head back to Duluth. Passengers reboard.
  • 12:00pm (Approx.): Depart to head back to Duluth
  • 1:00pm: Arrive Duluth depot

Light snacks will be served in first class, coach seats will have the option for general concession snacks. No lunch will be included, but food will be available upon returning to the Duluth Depot. There will be optional continued touring in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum upon the train’s return.
